Abraham's prayer is important because we see the importance of petitionary prayer. Petitionary prayer is the act of praying to God for a spcific person or group. We see Abraham use petitionary prayer when he's praying to God asking him not to destroy the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah. God says to Abraham, if there were 10 righteous people in the cities, He would save them. There were not 10 righteous people so God destroyed the citys but saved Abraham's nephew, Lot and his family.
